About Us

Meet The Founders

Hi, we’re Jacob and Aimee Isbell, the husband-and-wife founders of Wright Cacao Co. In 2025, nestled in a small Inland Northwest community between Spokane and the North Idaho border, we turned our interest for real and delicious chocolate into a company specializing in single-origin, small-batch, bean-to-bar snacks.

Jacob leads as our head chocolate maker, handling sourcing, roasting, crafting, and packaging. Aimee, alongside being wife and mom, draws on her experience at a local winery to help with tasting sessions and the many decisions that need to be made.

Our Story

It started as a simple spark of an idea years ago: making quality chocolate sounded like a fantastic thing to pursue.

While we were dating, Jacob mentioned the idea. We even looked up a nearby company that sourced cacao beans from around the world. Life moved forward after that - we got married, and the idea went on the back burner for a while.

While on a trip to Europe, we kept luggage light. When Aimee asked about room for souvenirs, Jacob said the only thing he wanted to bring home was Swiss chocolate. That was an easy sell. In Switzerland, we noticed how the bars listed their cacao origins and showed different flavor notes depending on the region. Tasting them was interesting - for the first time we were introduced to the unique and differing flavor profiles of chocolate from regions all around the world.

Almost exactly a year later, on our babymoon in Bend, Oregon, we saw craft chocolates from nearby makers in a local grocery store. We picked out a few, enjoyed them on the back porch, and it turned that spark into a flame.

A few months after our newborn arrived, the first bag of cacao beans showed up on our porch. We roasted a small batch in the kitchen oven, figured out the new melanger together, and shared what wasn’t the best chocolate ever, but had promise. Over the coming months, we experimented, learned, and passed bars around to friends and family, who were excited to join the journey. Finally, with growing enthusiasm and requests for more, we decided it was time to launch Wright Cacao Co.

Making chocolate, the Wright way

At our core, we strive to craft food in a way that cares for people (the farmers, our community, and you), stewards the earth (through sustainable practices), and sparks life and joy.

We source ethically produced and traded cacao from farmers who prioritize long-term care for the earth, pair it with organic ingredients, and make wholesome chocolate that aims to bring a bit more life and joy into the world. That's what it means to make chocolate the Wright way.

So whether you’re enjoying a bar on your own or sharing one with someone you care about, we hope it adds a small moment of goodness to your day. Thank you for being here with us!

Looking forward,

Jacob & Aimee Isbell

Where did the name come from?

We’re often asked about the origin of the ‘Wright’ name. The answer? It’s all about family! It is a tribute to Jacob’s great-grandmother - a name that has been passed down through our lineage for four generations and now lives on through our craft chocolate.
